Neil E. Munch (November 13, 1926 – July 2, 2014) was an American mechanical and aerospace engineer with a life-long interest in space, advanced physics and cosmology, and an insatiable curiosity about most everything. Throughout his work he stressed the central importance of clearly stated assumptions in all scientific endeavor, and he influenced a generation of critical thinkers around the world. He was a co-founder and founding director of the Natural Philosophy Alliance (NPA).

Career

Munch spent his early career (1948–1956) on advanced engineering projects in rocket propulsion, space travel, information systems and ordnance systems at several companies. In 1956 he joined the General Electric Space Division as a scientific contributor and manager, eventually leading space-sciences groups of up to 45 people, and remained there until 1986. Some of the rocket engines he designed were successfully flown and are now on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

In 1984 he founded and served as president of Munch Engineering Corporation. Over his career he published more than 100 papers questioning aspects of modern physics, some of them in refereed journals, with a particular focus on what he considered unwarranted or shifting assumptions in Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity.

Natural Philosophy Alliance

In 1994, Munch was a co-founder and founding director of the Natural Philosophy Alliance (NPA), together with Dr. John E. Chappell Jr. and others. The NPA grew to more than 200 members across the United States and other countries, providing a forum for scientists and independent researchers critical of mainstream physics — especially Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity.
