Henry H. Lindner (born 1958) is an American physician and philosopher known for his criticism of the foundations of modern theoretical physics and for his advocacy of an aether-based, materialist model of the Cosmos. A critic of Relativity and quantum theory, Lindner argues that these are mathematical models of observers' measurements and experiences rather than physical descriptions of the Cosmos, and he proposes instead a "physical space" or "flowing space" conception in which space is a substantial medium that self-organizes into matter and, ultimately, conscious beings. He also practices and writes on medicine, specializing in hormone restoration and endocrinology.

Biography

Lindner grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Jefferson Medical College in 1984. He began a residency in psychiatry to pursue his interest in the human mind, but, dissatisfied with the theories that dominated the field, he resigned the residency and became a general medical officer in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force service and afterward he practiced general medicine in Izmir, Turkey, in Denver, Colorado, and later as a physician for United States defense contractors in Saudi Arabia, living overseas for roughly twelve years until 2001.

From 2004 onward Lindner concentrated his medical practice on the restoration of hormones lost to aging, diagnosing and treating thyroid and cortisol insufficiency in patients he holds are missed by conventional endocrine criteria. He maintains a practice in rural northeastern Pennsylvania and publishes patient-oriented material through his website hormonerestoration.com.

Scientific contributions

Lindner contends that Relativity and quantum mechanics are not physical theories of the Cosmos but mathematical models relating phenomena to observers and their measurements. He traces what he regards as their inadequate foundations to an inherited idealist or "spiritualistic" epistemology, and argues that a functional theory must instead be grounded in what he terms Cosmism, the premise that the Cosmos is the ultimate reality that has produced humanity and its linguistic consciousness.

Central to his physics is the claim that space cannot be mere emptiness but must be a substantial medium, an aether or "flowing space," from which particles, atoms, and eventually conscious beings spontaneously self-organize. Within this framework he describes a hierarchy of cosmic organization spanning physical, chemical, biological, neurological, psychological, and intellectual levels, and treats biological evolution as one part of a broader cosmic evolution.

His writings on these themes have appeared in venues including Physics Essays and SPIE Proceedings, among them "Beyond Consciousness to Cosmos: Beyond Relativity and Quantum Theory to Cosmic Theory" (Physics Essays, 2002) and "Beyond Newton and Einstein to Flowing Space" (Physics Essays, 2012).
