Alejandro A. Torassa is an independent researcher who works on the foundations of classical mechanics. He is the author of a series of papers proposing a reformulation of dynamics, distributed through his personal website and through repositories such as viXra, the General Science Journal, ResearchGate and Academia.edu. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Ideas
Torassa proposes an alternative classical mechanics that he argues is valid for all observers and can be applied in any reference frame — inertial or non-inertial — without introducing fictitious forces. Central to his scheme is what he calls a "kinetic force", a new universal force of interaction that, he claims, keeps the system of forces acting on each body in equilibrium. In this view the motion of a body is not determined by the forces acting on it; rather, the body determines its own motion, exerting the kinetic force on all other bodies. He states that under this formulation the law of motion remains covariant across reference frames, and he has extended the approach with generalized transformations of time, space, velocity and acceleration.
These proposals are not part of accepted classical mechanics or relativity and have been published outside the mainstream peer-reviewed literature.
