Alexander A. Konradov was a Russian researcher in mathematical and biochemical physics, affiliated with the Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists. He is described in later publications as a mathematician who died prematurely.

Work

Konradov was a co-author with Simon E. Shnoll and colleagues on experimental studies reporting that the fine structure of histograms of measured fluctuations, in processes ranging from radioactive decay to chemical and biological reactions, changes in step with astronomical periods. In one widely cited study the group used rotating collimators to isolate narrow beams of alpha-particles from the decay of plutonium-239 and reported a sharp directional dependence, which they interpreted as evidence of an anisotropy of space. This work was published in Progress in Physics and posted on arXiv.

He also contributed to research in chronobiology and "chronoastrobiology," including collaborations connected to the work of Franz Halberg on periodic structure in biological and physical time series. The interpretations advanced in these studies, particularly the claim of a directional anisotropy of space, are not accepted within mainstream physics.
