Alexander Poshelaev is an independent theorist who has proposed an alternative interpretation of Einstein's theory of relativity. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Ideas

In the essay Einstein's Theory of Relativity in New Physical Model, or Theory of the Matter and the Parallel Worlds (Spaces), made available through the viXra e-print archive and on his personal website, Poshelaev proposes a model of elementary mass intended to explain the nature of time and Newtonian forces and to revise gravitational theory. He argues that our world exists as a three-dimensional membrane space within a larger multidimensional world, and that time is not a dimension but consists of "flows of time." In this account, he suggests that physical frames of reference obey the Lorentz transformation of coordinates and time because matter in our world exists in a "special" wave form.

These proposals sit outside accepted physics; special and general relativity treat time as a coordinate of spacetime, whereas Poshelaev presents an alternative framework of his own.
