Anirudh Pradhan is an Indian mathematician and professor known for extensive work in mathematical cosmology and general relativity. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists. He holds an M.Sc. and PhD in Mathematics and has been an Emeritus Professor and Research Advisor at GLA University in Mathura, India, with research interests including general relativity, cosmology, dark energy and modified gravity.
Work
Pradhan has published extensively on exact-solution cosmological models, including anisotropic Bianchi-type and string cosmological models, inhomogeneous and magnetized cosmologies, and models with a time-varying cosmological term.
He is listed in the dissident directory chiefly for co-authoring "A Novel Concept for Mass as Complex-Mass towards Wave-particle Duality" (with R. C. Gupta and Sushant Gupta; arXiv:1001.4647). The paper proposes that the mass of a moving body should be treated as a complex quantity, M = m_g + i m_p, in which the real part corresponds to the "grain" or rest mass governing particle-like behaviour and the imaginary part governs wave-like properties. The authors argue this complex-mass concept offers a unified account of effects such as the Compton effect and the refraction of light. This proposal lies outside the accepted framework of quantum mechanics.
