Anthony Hugh Hollick (1942–2016), known as Tony Hollick, was a British writer and self-educated thinker who, alongside a career as a libertarian activist, developed an unorthodox physics theory he called "Relational Dynamics". He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Life

Hollick was born on 30 July 1942 in Paddington, London, and died on 29 October 2016. An autodidact who never attended university, he was best known publicly as a libertarian activist associated with organisations such as the Freedom Association and the Libertarian Alliance. He also had a long-standing interest in physics and computing.

Ideas

Hollick published his physics writing on his personal website. He argued that light (electromagnetic radiation) cannot be fully described as either a wave or a particle, contending that light "does things waves cannot do" and also "does things that only particles do", and he criticised what he regarded as errors underlying relativistic interpretations. His broader framework, which he called "Relational Dynamics", was described by associates as one of his principal intellectual projects. These views lie outside the scientific mainstream.
