Antonio Spallone is a physicist associated with the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, known for experimental work on cold fusion and low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR). He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Spallone has collaborated with Francesco Celani and other Italian researchers on electrolytic experiments seeking anomalous excess heat and tritium production in palladium–deuterium systems. This line of work followed the 1989 claims of Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons and forms part of the field variously called cold fusion, LENR, or condensed matter nuclear science, which remains outside the accepted physics mainstream. Reported experiments in which he participated include measurements of electrolytic cold fusion with heavy water (D2O) and palladium, some carried out at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory, and studies of biased pulsed electrolysis of palladium cathodes aimed at obtaining anomalous heat and tritium results.
