Daniele Sasso is an Italian independent physicist known for developing the "Theory of Reference Frames," an alternative to Einstein's relativity that he has pursued since the 1970s. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Theory of Reference Frames
Sasso argues that special relativity is an obsolete theory and proposes in its place what he calls the Theory of Reference Frames. Central to the theory is a "principle of reference," according to which any physical event should be analysed primarily in the reference system physically united with the system in which the event occurs. He introduces a notion of "inertial time," which he presents as a common time valid for all inertial reference frames, intended to replace both Newtonian–Galilean absolute time and Einstein's relativistic time. He also posits a non-absolute "preferred" reference frame. He has applied the framework to topics including stellar aberration, the Doppler effect, black holes, and gravitational and electromagnetic phenomena. These positions are contrary to the scientific mainstream.
