Dimitri L. Khokhlov is a Russian researcher who has published numerous papers on the foundations of relativity theory, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics and cosmology. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Khokhlov is a prolific author of preprints on the arXiv e-print repository, where his work spans the interpretation of special relativity, electromagnetic theory, neutrino physics and cosmology. In papers such as "On the principle of relativity in electrodynamics" and "On the verifiability of relativity theory", presented at the Physical Interpretations of Relativity Theory (PIRT) conference series, he argues that, given the postulate of the invariance of the speed of light, the invariance of the Maxwell–Lorentz equations is not required to formulate the principle of relativity in electrodynamics.
His writings are largely critical of, or seek to reinterpret, aspects of accepted relativity theory, placing them outside the physics mainstream. He has publicly withdrawn some of his own proposals, including a preprint on superluminal signalling that he retracted as incorrect.
