Dirk Freyling is a German author and independent theorist known for his critique of modern theoretical physics and for developing an alternative framework he calls the Elementarkörpertheorie ("Elementary Body Theory"). He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Ideas

Freyling, who has published on his website since the 1980s, rejects central parts of contemporary physics, in particular the Standard Model of particle physics and aspects of the application of special relativity to dynamic processes. He argues that the experimental support cited for the Standard Model is indirect and lacks unambiguous interpretation, and he presents his critiques in a polemical style combining technical argument with satire directed at the physics establishment.

As an alternative he proposes the Elementarkörpertheorie, which he describes as a "thought model" that aims not at absolute truth but at internal consistency and agreement with measurement data. The theory seeks to derive properties of elementary particles from a small set of geometric and dynamic assumptions about elementary bodies, and Freyling presents accompanying equations and numerical results on his site. His positions lie well outside the scientific mainstream and are not accepted by the physics community.
