With Yehonathan Hazony (Boston University), Dov Hazony published "'Monochromatic' ultrasonic phonon studies of condensed matter: An apparent challenge to the uncertainty principle" in Physics Essays (vol. 26, no. 1, March 2013, pp. 73–81). The paper reports ultrasonic time-of-flight experiments in condensed-matter channels which, the authors argue, encounter an apparent violation of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. They interpret the findings as consistent with the de Broglie–Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics and extend the analysis to account for ultrasound-phononic dispersion in condensed matter. The claimed challenge to the uncertainty principle lies outside the mainstream interpretation of quantum mechanics.
