Fulvio Frisone is an Italian physicist known for theoretical work on low-energy nuclear reactions (cold fusion), particularly models describing the fusion of deuterons inside the microcracks and deformed lattice of deuterium-loaded metals at room temperature. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Work

Frisone published a series of papers, associated with the Department of Physics of the University of Catania, developing a theoretical framework in which deuterons trapped within microcracks of a crystalline lattice can undergo fusion at room temperature. His models emphasise an enhanced quantum tunneling probability produced by lattice screening and by the interaction of deuterons with plasmons (collective electron oscillations) in the metal. He argued that such low-energy fusion "does not violate any laws of nature," treating it as an ordinary tunneling process amplified by the solid-state environment rather than a novel force.

His publications include "Deuteron Interaction Within a Microcrack in a Lattice at Room Temperature" (Fusion Technology, 2001), "Fusion reaction within a microcrack in a crystalline lattice at room temperature" (AIP Conference Proceedings, 2000), "Tunneling Effect Enhanced by Lattice Screening as Main Cold Fusion Mechanism" (Journal of Condensed Matter Nuclear Science, 2007) and "Probability of Deuteron–Plasmon Fusion at Room Temperature within Micro-cracks" (2017). These ideas lie outside the scientific mainstream, which does not accept that measurable nuclear fusion occurs in such systems at room temperature.
