G. Alagar Ramanujam is a physicist and author known for publications in theoretical physics and relativity, and for later work attempting to give a physical formulation to the "Vethathiri model of the universe." He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Physics publications
Ramanujam has a long record of papers in mainstream physics journals dating back to the 1970s, including "On superluminal inertial frames" (Lettere al Nuovo Cimento, 1973), "On the extreme relativistic limit of arbitrary spin wave equations" (International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1973), "Yet another unified derivation of Galilean and Lorentz transformations" (European Journal of Physics, 1983), and more recent work such as "Friedmann-Like Cosmological Equations for the Accelerated Expansion of the Universe" (Journal of Modern Physics, 2020).
Vethathiri model
In a separate line of work Ramanujam sought to express the cosmological ideas of the Indian philosopher Vethathiri Maharishi in physical terms. In this framework space is treated as an all-pervading substance carrying potential energy, with a property of self-compression and surrounding pressure. Self-compression is said to produce spinning quanta of space (termed "formative dust"), whose spin and mutual pressure are used to account for gravity, mass and inertia. These proposals fall outside mainstream physics, which does not treat space as a compressible material substance of this kind.
