Lezioni di relatività — da Einstein all'etere di Lorentz ("Lectures on Relativity — from Einstein to Lorentz's Aether") is a 2003 Italian-language book by the physicist Franco Selleri, published by Progedit.

Overview

The book presents Selleri's lectures on the theory of relativity and develops his neo-Lorentzian critique of it. Selleri argues that a preferred reference frame — associated with a Lorentzian aether — is preferable to Einstein's relativity of simultaneity, and presents his "inertial transformations," a one-parameter family of coordinate transformations that restore absolute simultaneity while remaining compatible with experiment.

About the author

Franco Selleri (1936–2013) was an Italian theoretical physicist and professor at the University of Bari, known for his work on the foundations of quantum mechanics and relativity and for defending neo-Lorentzian and local-realist positions. See also his edited volume Wave-Particle Duality.
