Experimental Studies in Electricity and Magnetism is a collection of the experimental work of the American physicist Francis E Nipher, originally published in 1914 (by P. Blakiston's Son & Co., Philadelphia) and reissued in 2007 by Kessinger Publishing.
Overview
The volume gathers Nipher's laboratory studies in electricity and magnetism, including the experiments that led him to propose an intimate relation between gravitation and electrical action. Nipher argued that the gravitational attraction between two masses depends not only on their masses and separation but also on their electrical condition, and reported experiments which he interpreted as showing that gravitational attraction could be reduced to zero — or even reversed into repulsion — by electrification.
About the author
Francis Eugene Nipher (1847–1926) was an American physicist and long-time professor at Washington University in St. Louis, and a founder of the Academy of Science of St. Louis. He is remembered for his meteorological and magnetic surveys of Missouri and, later in his career, for his controversial electro-gravitational experiments.
