Abstract

We discuss some fundamental and practical aspects of isotopic randomness due to the diversity of stable isotopes, namely: 1) additional scattering mechanism for phonons and electrons and Anderson localization in narrow bands; 2) perfect (nonpseudo) random number generator with easy tunable relative density of 0's and 1's in a random string; 3) isotopic ordering and isotopic superlattices; 4) shifts of natural isotopic abundancies in biological experiments and isotopically pure organisms. Some aspects of structures with purposeful isotopic ordering(isotopic engineering) are also mentioned.
