Popper Versus Einstein: On the Philosophical Foundations of Physics is a 1998 book by Christoph von Mettenheim, published by Mohr Siebeck.

Overview

In the first part of the book, von Mettenheim subjects Einstein's general theory of relativity to a critical examination using Karl Popper's criterion of falsifiability, arguing on logical rather than mathematical grounds that the theory is philosophically deficient. In the second part he sets out his own alternative account of gravitation, which returns to an ether-based conception and is incompatible with Einsteinian relativity. He later expanded these ideas in Einstein, Popper and the Crisis of Theoretical Physics.

About the author
