Surface Electrochemistry: A Molecular Level Approach is a 1993 advanced treatise by John O'M. Bockris and Shahed U. M. Khan, published by Plenum Press (Springer). It is a graduate/research-level companion to the authors' widely used undergraduate text Modern Electrochemistry.

Overview

The book gives a molecular-level account of electrochemical processes at surfaces, surveying research frontiers in photoelectrochemistry, bioelectrochemistry, and the electrochemistry of cleaner energy and environmental technologies. It is aimed at helping professional electrochemists design more efficient and economical electrochemical sources of energy. At more than a thousand pages, it is a standard, heavily cited reference in the field.

About the authors

John O'M. Bockris (1923–2013) was a prominent electrochemist and long-time professor (University of Pennsylvania, Texas A&M), author of foundational textbooks in electrochemistry; in his later career he became involved in controversial cold-fusion and low-energy transmutation research. Shahed U. M. Khan is an electrochemist and frequent co-author, noted for work in photoelectrochemistry.
