From his university webiste:
I was born on December 12, 1968, in Torres Vedras, about 50 km North of Lisbon. I graduated in Physical Engineering at IST in 1991, got the MSc degree in Physics from Universidade T?cnica de Lisboa (IST) in 1994 and the PhD in Physics from the the same institution in 1998, with a thesis on Plasma Physics (Kinetic Modelling of Glow Discharges in Molecular Gases: the Mixture N2-O2). My teaching activities started at the Department of Mathematics of IST in 1991. In 1993 I moved to the Department of Physics, where I am Assistant Professor (Professor Auxiliar) since 1998. I am also member of the Plasma Physics Group (Centro de F?sica dos Plasmas) of IST.
