Magnetic Current is a short pamphlet by Edward Leedskalnin, first published in 1945 from Homestead, Florida (and reprinted many times since).
Overview
In the pamphlet Leedskalnin sets out his idiosyncratic theory of magnetism, together with a series of simple experiments — using U-shaped, round, and bar magnets, car batteries, light bulbs, and coils of wire — intended to demonstrate it. He argues that it is not the metal itself that is magnetic; rather, tiny individual "north and south pole magnet" particles circulate in and around the metal, moving in a double-helix pattern that produces the observed magnetic force. The work reflects his belief that mainstream physics had misunderstood the nature of electricity and magnetism.
About the author
Edward Leedskalnin (1887–1951) was a Latvian emigrant to the United States, a self-taught man (with reportedly only a fourth-grade education) best known for single-handedly building the monument known as Coral Castle (Rock Gate) in Florida. He wrote several self-published pamphlets on magnetism, of which Magnetic Current is the best known.
