Abstract

Classical emission theory was not generally accepted because it encountered difficulties in the explanation of the double star results and of the Alv?ger experiment. In this paper, emission theory is re-developed from a new point of view. It is proposed that the velocity of light is quantized. The equations of electromagnetic potentials are derived in this emission theory. Using the rigid-sphere body model, the formula for the mass-energy relation in emission theory is obtained. The new emission theory can explain the Michelson-Morley experiment, the Kennedy-Thorndike experiment, stellar aberration, the Fizeau experiment, the double star results, the Alv?ger experiment, the transverse Doppler effect, the experimentally sensed variation of mass with velocity and general mass-energy equivalence.
